You’ve heard the stories. You’ve heard about people who managed to turn their hobby into a full-time career or maybe even make enough money to quit their day job and stay at home with their kids. You’ve heard of bloggers who became millionaires from writing, and maybe you want to be one of them yourself.
We’re here to tell you that it’s possible. There are many different ways you can monetize your blog so that it is making money for you rather than being an expensive hobby. You can also learn about money-making by visiting newly launched freelancer to work website. Here are some of our favorite strategies:
Sell affiliate products
Once you’ve found a niche, it’s time to start selling. Affiliate products are any that you can get paid commission on if someone buys them through your link. This includes physical products like books or clothing, but also digital goods like ebooks and software.
To find affiliate products, go to the Amazon Associates program or Commission Junction (formerly LinkShare). They’ll have categories of products you can promote as well as lists of companies that pay out commissions on their sales.
For example, I’m an affiliate for both Amazon and Commission Junction and they pay me anywhere from 3% – 10% when my visitor clicks through an ad I’ve created and then makes a purchase at no cost to them! You will want to create several different links for each product so you don’t lose track of how many sales you made per day/week/month etc…
Write sponsored posts.
If you want to write sponsored posts, I would suggest:
Writing about products or services that you have used.
Writing about products or services that you researched but haven’t tried yet (but still feel confident talking about).
Writing about a product or service that is not available in your country and/or language, but is available somewhere else (and therefore it’s likely there are people who live near where this item is available who will be interested in learning about it).
Advertise on your blog.
You can place ads on your website, blog, social media accounts, YouTube channel and email list. You can also place ads on podcasting platforms like Podcasts.com and with Instagram influencers who have large followings.
The more traffic you have coming to your site the higher the price of advertising will be. The most common types of advertising that you’ll see are banner ads or text links at the top or bottom of a page (like this one).
Give away ebooks and other digital products.
Giving away digital products is a great way to make money from your blog. You can give away ebooks, courses, tools, reports and so on.
For example:
Give away an ebook about how to start a blog for free
Give away a course about how to use social media for business for free
Give away a checklist of 10 tips for small businesses that want to increase traffic on their websites for free
Teach webinars or workshops.
Teaching is a great way to earn money from your blog. It could be as simple as sharing a how-to guide or teaching others about something you’re an expert on. You can charge for your time, expertise and content that you create. If you have an audience that listens to your blog posts, then this is another opportunity for free marketing!
Accept guest posts.
Guest posts are a great way to get more traffic to your site, as well as get links back to your own site. Guest posting is when someone writes an article for another website without getting paid. They will usually link back to the original writer’s site and tell people about it. So, if you have a blog that receives 50 visitors per day, and you write one guest post for another blog which gets 100 visitors per day, then that would be 50 new visitors (50 x 2 = 100) coming from outside of your normal audience and making money off of their time spent reading the article!
To find guest blogging opportunities:
Find sites in your niche or related niches with large amounts of traffic and/or Alexa rankings above 500k – 1 million. These are usually blogs with huge followings on social media platforms like Facebook or Google+. Find writers who cover subjects similar to yours that fit within their editorial guidelines (these can sometimes be found on their “About” page). If they don’t list editorial guidelines then look at past articles written by writers who work there because chances are those same rules apply today still exist today too but just haven’t been updated yet by administrators so keep this mind when applying…
